Commissioned research and research labs

Research that delivers real-world Impact

At the UK SCALE Centre, we are committed to helping businesses innovate across their supply chains. Through commissioned research and collaborative research labs, we provide bespoke, expert support to tackle real-world challenges and deliver actionable insights, practical solutions and strategic clarity.

Our commissioned projects are designed around your organisation’s needs, whether that means solving a specific challenge, piloting a new approach, or exploring broader opportunities. By combining academic expertise, industry insight and applied innovation, we help businesses strengthen resilience, boost productivity, and unlock growth.

Commissioned research connects cutting-edge thinking with real-world application, ensuring your investment delivers measurable impact.

Research labs

Our research labs create dedicated spaces for experimentation, collaboration and innovation. Here, businesses and researchers can test new approaches, explore system-wide supply chain challenges, and use advanced tools to generate solutions that are both robust and scalable.

The UK SCALE CAVE Lab

Inspired by MIT’s world-leading CAVE Lab, we are developing the UK SCALE CAVE Lab, a pioneering environment where complex supply chain data becomes clear, interactive and actionable. Using advanced data visualisation and analytics, the CAVE Lab enables:

  • Smarter decision-making in supply chain design and operations
  • Application of machine learning and advanced data science to improve performance
  • Interactive tools that support collaborative decision-making across functions
  • A space for students, researchers and industry leaders to experiment, learn and innovate together

The CAVE Lab is where advanced analytics meets human insight, helping organisations make better decisions, faster.
