Postgraduate research
Doctoral research is essential to train future leaders, and advance fundamental knowledge relevant to modern, low-emission combustion systems.
Fully-Funded PhD Studentships with NCCAT
In NCCAT we offer 4-5 fully funded studentships per year and welcome applications from high quality graduate students. New projects are always being developed to support the research at NCCAT and our industrial partners such as Rolls-Royce.
Projects can range from the fundamental physics to more applied engine applications, can encompass advanced experimental techniques, high fidelity numerical modelling, and the development of low order models. Recent topics include investigations of the compressor-combustor interface, fuel injector design, fuel sprays and atomisation, flame stabilisation, combustion instabilities, cooling flows, fundamental combustor design, altitude relight, combustor-turbine interactions, and the use of alternate fuels (SAFs and hydrogen).
