Ultra-high resolution gamma spectroscopy

Supporting the development of ultra-high energy resolution transition edge sensors.

Superconductors exhibit a remarkable quantum phase transition from a resistive state to a dissipationless superconducting state which has negligible electrical resistance.

This transition is extremely sensitive to temperature fluctuations and can be employed to identify absorbed radiation in transition edge sensors.

One area of our research involves the development of ultra-high energy resolution transition edge sensors in tandem with microcalorimeter absorbers to detect high-energy gamma rays.
