ARAMP visit to Universiti Malaya strengthens international collaboration

Sarah Bugby visits Universiti Malaya in Kuala Lumpur to meet with research partners and explore new avenues for joint work between ARAMP and Malaysian clinical and academic teams.

Sarah taking part in a panel discussion for MSc students and clinical staff alongside Dr Peter Knoll (IAEA).

During the trip, Sarah delivered an invited talk titled “Development of a Hybrid Gamma Camera”, where she provided a historical overview of the technology and highlighted recent advances from the ARAMP team. Many of these developments have now been integrated into Seracam - a novel gamma-optical imaging system produced by Serac Imaging Systems Ltd., which is currently undergoing surgical trials.

The visit offered a valuable opportunity to meet long-standing collaborators in person. A particular highlight was the chance to engage with members of the clinical and research teams involved in the ongoing Seracam trial, as well as surgeons exploring the expansion of radioguided surgical techniques into head-and-neck procedures. Sarah also met with several academics from the Department of Clinical Oncology at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre and the Department of Biomedical Imaging. We look forward to developing these discussions into joint research projects and strengthening future links between Universiti Malaya and Loughborough University.
