The programme featured a series of talks exploring different aspects of medical physics, delivered by leading East Midlands researchers including Professor Alan Perkins (University of Nottingham), Professor John Lees (University of Leicester), Professor Eef Hogervorst (Loughborough University), and Dr Bart Vorselaars (University of Lincoln).
As part of the event, speakers were invited to judge a PhD poster competition. We are delighted to share that Henry Priestley, a PhD student in our department working on microbeam radiation therapy, was awarded one of the two poster prizes. Congratulations, Henry!
Attendees also had the opportunity to tour the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre, discovering its pioneering research and learning about the lasting legacy of Sir Peter Mansfield, Nobel Laureate and MRI pioneer.
The day concluded with a series of evening talks open to the public, offering a chance to hear from leading Nottingham researchers — Professor Peter Morris, Professor Penny Gowland, and Professor Matt Brookes — on the past, present, and future of MRI and MEG.
As part of the organising committee, Dr Sarah Bugby and Dr Jenny Spiga from ARaMP played a key role in making the event a great success, and they look forward to organising similar opportunities in the near future.
