Loughborough University has welcomed senior female leaders from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for a week-long bespoke programme enhancing leadership qualities across sport.

Delivered in partnership with the Leaders Development Institute (LDI) at the Ministry of Sport and the Relations and International Affairs Deputyship at the Ministry of Sport, Saudi Arabia, the course strengthened the leadership capabilities of national female leaders already in positions of responsibility.

The programme included panel discussions, workshops, seminars, and networking opportunities, providing insight into how to operate with greater authority, strategic influence, and impact at executive and decision-making levels.

Themes across the week included sports investment, commercial governance, and sustainable growth models in women’s sport. It also explored the role of sport in international influence, including sports diplomacy, hosting major sporting events, and strengthening national reputation and soft power.

Led by colleagues from Loughborough Sport and the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences, the programme addressed advanced topics such as para sport, athlete safeguarding, digital transformation, innovation, and the use of data and emerging technologies to enhance governance, improve performance, and elevate fan experience.

Participants departed the sessions with tangible knowledge and leadership practices that will contribute to the development of the Kingdom’s sports ecosystem.
