The THE Awards celebrate and shine a light on the exceptional work taking place in higher education.
The nomination in the ‘Outstanding Marketing/Communications Team of the Year’ category recognises the work of colleagues in Marketing and Advancement and Loughborough Sport on the University’s 2024 Paris Games ‘Don’t Mention It’ campaign.
Imagine legally not being able to mention the event you’re covering. This is what Loughborough faced during that major global sporting event in summer 2024. The University wanted to amplify our strong involvement, showcasing our enviable sporting ecosystem and academic expertise around the Games.
The campaign, which lasted eight weeks, targeted current and prospective students, alumni, partners, local community, media, and policymakers through a robust content strategy – all while avoiding protected terminology.
The ‘International Collaboration of the Year’ nomination celebrates Aftrak, an international collaboration between Loughborough University, the Consortium for Battery Innovation (CBI) and Malawian-UK NGO, Tiyeni.
Aftrak is a techno-economic initiative to empower smallholder farmers across Africa. It combines an innovative agricultural technique, Deep Bed Farming, solar microgrids and bespoke tractors to provide rural communities with sustainable electricity while increasing crop yields, food security and income.

Congratulations to all of the Loughborough University nominees. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 13 November 2025 in Edinburgh.
