Last week, Loughborough University London celebrated its 10-year anniversary with a special Careers Insight event that brought together students, alumni and staff for an evening of reflection, networking and inspiration.

The event, hosted by the Careers and Employability team, Future Space, was held at our London campus  and marked a decade since the site first opened its doors in 2015. Over the course of the evening, attendees heard from a diverse range of alumni who shared their experiences of studying at Loughborough University London and the career journeys that followed.

The evening began with a welcome from the Vice-Chancellor Professor Nick Jennings and Dean of Loughborough University London Professor Aiden McGarry. Both reflected on the significant progress made over the past ten years, celebrating the achievements of the School’s community and its continued commitment to driving innovation, enterprise, and global impact.

Following the opening remarks, guests were invited to attend a series of themed alumni panels, each representing one of the University’s key areas of study. Alumni from across industries including sport business, international management, creative industries, diplomacy, and digital technologies, shared insights into their professional experiences. Panellists offered practical advice to current students preparing to enter the world of work.

Highlights included discussions with graduates now working for leading organisations such as EY, the Bank of England, the National Football League (NFL), Google and Sky Sports. A special ‘Rising Stars’ panel concluded the evening, featuring recent graduates making an early impact in their respective fields.

Attendees had the opportunity to network with academics and peers, strengthening connections within the Loughborough community and celebrating the collaborative spirit that has defined the school since its inception.

Reflecting on the event, Vice-Chancellor Professor Nick Jennings said: “When I joined the University in 2021, one of the most attractive features was Loughborough’s campus here in East London. This is a vibrant and connected space and one that we have been proud to call home for the last decade.

“Celebrations like this show what a special team and community we have built here in London. Seeing how this continues to grow and expand is hugely rewarding.”

Sport Analytics and Technologies MSc graduate Jayant Ganju, who is now a Football Statistician at Sky Sports said: “It was incredible to come back onto campus and connect with the new cohort of students in this 10th anniversary year.

“When I came to Loughborough University London from India in 2020, I was unsure how my studies would impact my career. I was supported by the Future Space team to access real world skills, internships and opportunities that built my network and projected me into the UK sports industry.

“My role now at Sky is a dream come true and I am thankful to continue to be part of the Loughborough community.”

The Careers Insight event forms part of a wider programme of activities taking place throughout the academic year to mark London’s 10th anniversary, celebrating the School’s growth as a thriving hub of creativity, research, and professional development in the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
