Loughborough-linked athletes set for Women's Rugby World Cup 2025

Current Loughborough University Student Sadia Kabeya has been called up by England.

Loughborough University will be well represented at the upcoming Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 as players, coaches, and practitioners have all been confirmed in squads for the tournament.

Hosts England will have seven players with Loughborough links in their ranks as current Lightning athletes Emily Scarratt, Sadia Kabeya, Lilli Ives Campion, and Helena Rowland have all be selected alongside former Lightning players Lark Atkin-Davies, Abi Burton, and Morwenna Talling.

Sarah Hunter, the Loughborough University alumna, recent honorary graduate, and former England captain, will also coach the Red Roses on home soil.

Elsewhere, 11 players with links to Loughborough have been called up by Scotland. Current Lightning players Leia Brebner-Holden, Anne Young, Elis Martin, Helen Nelson, Becky Boyd, Chloe Rollie, and Emma Wassall are joined by alumnae Rachel Malcolm, Sarah Bonar, Leah Bartlett, and Rhona Lloyd.

Helen Nelson has been selected by Scotland.

Courtney O'Donnell, who plays her club rugby at Lightning, has also been called up by Canada.

The USA boasts a strong Loughborough contingent with Lightning quintet Alev Kelter, Bulou Mataitoga, Kathryn Treder, Keia Sagapolu, and Tahlia Brody all set to play for the Eagles during the campaign.

The Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 is scheduled to take place between 22 August and 27 September across eight separate venues.
