Vice-Chancellor’s statement on the EU Referendum

I am therefore disappointed this morning that the result of the EU Referendum has been a vote to leave the European Union.

I am however very confident that Loughborough is a strong and successful University and will continue to prosper. We are a world-facing, diverse organisation, are stronger for this and we remain absolutely committed to this principle.

We have this morning spoken to the campus unions and Loughborough Students’ Union and we will work together to support staff and students who may have concerns.

Universities UK, the representative body of universities, has issued a statement this morning which I support. Their full statement can be viewed here .

It should be remembered that leaving the EU will not happen overnight – there will now be a gradual process with significant opportunities for universities to seek assurances and influence future policy.

Pleased be assured that my senior colleagues and I will be carefully monitoring developments and  we will keep you informed of new information and the next steps as they become clear.

For now it is business as usual.

Thank you for all that you do.
