Loughborough’s student experience a hit at Whatuni Student Choice Awards

The Whatuni Student Rankings are based on averages taken from reviews submitted by over 25,000 students and published on the site. They offer prospective students an unbiased, student-led alternative to traditional university ranking systems.

This year 125 universities met the minimum threshold to be considered for a Student Choice Award; and 39 universities received a nomination.

Loughborough won the Best Students’ Union award – for the third year in a row – and the Best Clubs and Societies award. It also got silver in the University of the Year award, which it won last year, as well as silver in the Best University Facilities, Best for Job Prospects and Best Student Support categories.

Speaking about the awards success Loughborough University Vice Chancellor Robert Allison said: “This is a great achievement and underlines just how well the University and the Students’ Union work together to ensure our students get the most out of their time at Loughborough.

“And let’s not forget these accolades come just weeks after Loughborough won the Times Higher Student Experience of the Year Award.  Everyone at the University and Students’ Union should be proud of our continued success.”

Jess Excell, President of Loughborough Students’ Union added: “We are absolutely delighted that the Students’ Union has yet again been voted the best in the country, and to have our clubs and societies offering win too is the icing on the cake.  We have an incredible student body here at Loughborough, and it is great to know that they value what we are doing.”

Simon Emmett, CEO at whatuni.com said: “We’re thrilled to see that once again Loughborough are winners at the Whatuni Student Choice Awards. They were nominated in an impressive nine categories and picked up wins in two of the most crucial. These awards are the best reflection of what university is like from current students.”
