Academic Language Support Service Workshops
ALSS will be running two workshops. You can come along to just one or both.
Registering for both the morning and the afternoon session is encouraged. Drinks and festive treats will be served at approximately 12pm. If you are coming for the whole day, don’t forget to bring your lunch!
Morning session (writing): Appropriate use of sources in writing
In this workshop, you will work on writing effecting summaries, paraphrasing and using quotations and writing correctly formatted in-text references. You will also look at source synthesis and how you can build this into your own writing.
Afternoon session (speaking): Effective spoken communication for seminar discussions
The aim of this workshop is to help you to contribute effectively in group discussions, express your opinion more confidently, and use language for explanation and clarification your in spoken English.

Wellbeing Service Drop In Session
If you would like to speak to a Wellbeing Advisor please come along to the Library for a drop-in appointment.
ISE Mixed Volleyball Tournament
Come along and represent your country in our indoor mixed volleyball tournament. This is your chance to win our Christmas Cup alongside some festive prizes.
Please book on the Loughborough Sports App (on the Recreational Sport tile). Booking will open one week before the event. If you have a team already, you need to make sure all your team members book individually.
Numbers are limited so book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Connect and create at Christmas
Join the Chaplaincy for an afternoon of festive crafts, conversation, games, and traditional refreshments. As part of the session, take part in a Mindful Marbling Workshop — a calming, creative activity where you can make your own marbled designs to take home.
Come along to relax and be creative or just come to meet others and take time to slow down when life is busy.

Morning session (writing): Understanding and effective use of academic style in writing
In this workshop, you will look at a variety of academic style writing features and practice using appropriate academic style in your own writing.
Afternoon session (speaking): Effective speaking and listening skills
This workshop focuses on improving your confidence when using signposting, repair, and clarification language. You will practise using these skills when sharing information with others in the session and have the opportunity to use a variety of note-taking strategies while listening to an interview.

Padel Session
Turn up and Play
Come along and play Padel in a fun and free environment. Open to beginners and more experienced players. All equipment will be provided. Please note this is a self-led session.

Return to Loughborough by 6:30pm.
Manchester is famous for its festive Christmas Markets, packed with food, gifts, and seasonal entertainment. Beyond the markets, explore the vibrant Northern Quarter, the Arndale Centre, the Science and Industry Museum, and the National Football Museum.

Get into the festive spirit with a sustainable twist! Join LU Arts for a relaxed lunchtime of natural Christmas decoration making, using simple, eco-friendly materials like dried oranges, cinnamon, pinecones and twine. Make one to take home and one to gift to a friend!
All materials provided – just drop in, get creative, and share some festive cheer.
