REF Roadshows

The Research Excellence Framework (REF) is the system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions. The last REF exercise took place in 2021 and the results identified that 91% of Loughborough University’s research is ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally-excellent’. The next REF exercise is planned for 2029 and will see several changes compared to REF 2021.

Dan Parsons (Pro Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation) and colleagues from the Research and Innovation Office (RIO) are holding four REF Roadshow events to share information about what we know so far about REF2029; the University’s approach to REF and why it is important; and how staff from across the University can contribute to a successful submission.

Dates and locations of the REF Roadshow events are detailed below:
