Loughborough Energy Resilience Seminar Series: March Thermal comfort
- 26 March 2025
- 2.30pm-4.30pm
- Sir Frank Gibb building, RT040
This event includes four seminars surrounding the use of thermal comfort as a performance metric for buildings. Presented by a doctoral researcher, alumni, and two academics across the School of Architecture, Building, and Civil Engineering (ABCE) and the Design School. This event series highlights ongoing world-leading research within Loughborough University. The ABCE school ranks 1st in the UK for its architecture and building departments covering world leading teaching and research.
Presentation topics:
- Dr. Simon Hodder: Thermal comfort: Measurable or mythical?
- Dr. Francesco Babich: Thermal comfort standards and models
- Dr. Arash Beizaee: Thermal comfort criteria for assessing bedroom overheating
- Shanti Srinivas: Hygrothermal models for assessing passive sustainable solutions for improving thermal comfort in households
The event ends with networking and refreshments. Please come along to learn something new and engage with this valuable cross disciplinary research avenue.
The event will be the sixth in a series aimed at creating discussion around buildings and energy. The energy resilience of buildings can include energy efficiency measures, energy demand reduction, load shifting, energy storage, building integrated generation, and much more.
Presentations and discussions are valuable to developing our next generation of engineers. It is important to expose young people to niche and interesting areas to grow their passion for building performance and energy.
