University Choir Christmas Concert
Get into the festive spirit and join the University Choir for their annual Christmas concert. The University Choir will present the perfect musical feast in their annual concert, helping to kickstart Christmas on campus!
The programme will feature two seasonal pieces from Katy Lavinia Cooper’s Twelve trees choral work (words by Catriona Downie), which is inspired by trees, history, folklore and traditional music from the British Isles. The two pieces are No. 11 November – The Holly Tree and No. 12 December – Ash Tree.
In addition to plenty of Christmas favourites – with some possible audience participation – is Navidad Nuestra by Argentinian composer Ariel Ramirez. This is a folk drama of the Nativity, based on the rhythms and traditions of Hispanic America. A student guitarist will accompany the Choir for this.
The University Choir is made up of students, staff, alumni and members of the local community. They rehearse on Monday evenings during term time and welcome new members.
