IAS Friends and Fellows Coffee Morning

This event will welcome current IAS Residential Fellows Professor Justin A. Haegele and Professor Giuseppe Saccomandi, and Open Programme Fellow Dr Andy Tay Kah Ping.

Come along for an informal gathering with coffee and cakes to meet our Fellows; all are welcome.

Professor Justin A. Haegele, Old Dominion University

Justin A. Haegele, PhD, is the Colgate Darden Endowed Professor and the Director of the Center for Movement, Health, & Disability in the Department of Human Movement Studies & Special Education at Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA, USA). Contextualised within the interdisciplinary field of adapted physical activity, his primary research interests centre on exploring how disabled individuals experience physical activity participation, including within school-based physical education contexts.

Professor Giuseppe Saccomandi, Università degli Studi di Perugia

Professor Saccomandi is an applied mathematician with a background in physics and engineering sciences. Since 2007, he has been a Full Professor at the University of Perugia, following previous academic positions at Sapienza University of Rome and the University of Salento. His education includes the Schola Europaea Bruxellensis in Belgium, the University of Perugia, and research collaborations with Professors Michael Hayes (Dublin), Raymond Ogden (Glasgow) and Kumbakonan Rajagopal (College Station).

Dr Andy Tay Kah Ping, National University of Singapore

Andy Tay graduated in 2014 from NUS with a First-Class Honours in Biomedical Engineering. He later headed to the University of California, Los Angeles, for his PhD studies and graduated in 2017 as the recipient of the Harry M Showman Commencement Award. Andy next received his postdoctoral training at Stanford University before heading to Imperial College London as an 1851 Royal Commission Brunel Research Fellow. He is currently a Presidential Young Professor in NUS, focusing on engineering immunity with biomaterials to diagnose and treat cancer and skin disorders.
