On Wednesday 6 May we will be hosting an IAS Friends and Fellows Coffee Morning, where we will welcome current IAS Residential Fellows Dr Robert Emmett Alexander & Professor Mark Bevir.

Dr Robert Emmett Alexander, Independent Research Scholar
Dr Bob Alexander is an independent researcher, trainer, consultant, risk communication and community engagement / social and behavioural change communication specialist, and music and film recording artist and producer who has worked on participatory integrated vulnerability reduction and resilience strengthening in marginalized areas prone to disaster, conflict, climate change, and maldevelopment related risks for over 30 years.
Professor Mark Bevir, University of California
Mark Bevir is a Distinguished Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. Born and raised in London, Mark received his doctorate from the University of Oxford. Before moving to Berkeley, he worked at universities in India and the UK. Mark is a social and political theorist. He uses philosophy and history to develop an interpretive theory of the human sciences. And he collaborates with empirical researchers to apply this theory to public policy, typically by decentring governance. His recent publications include Interpretive Social Science, with Jason Blakely (Oxford University Press, 2018), Life after God: An Encounter with Postmodernism (Brill, 2022), and A History of Political Science (Cambridge University Press, 2022).
