Exhibition: The Team Behind the Team

Black and white photograph of a football from the Team behind the Team exhibition

Photographs of the 'Team Behind the Team' of Loughborough Football Programme 2025-26 season.

Success on the pitch is never achieved by the players and coaches alone.

Behind every performance is a dedicated team of people working away from the spotlight — providing the expertise, care, organisation and commitment that allows players and teams to perform at their best.

Commissioned by the University's Director of Football Richard Allen, the photographs in this exhibition celebrate the team behind the teams at Loughborough University. Taken by photographer Becca Taylor during the 2025/26 season, they document the important contributions made by staff, students and volunteers in creating a successful environment for Loughborough Students Football (including Loughborough Students Cerebral Palsy Team), Loughborough Lightning Football and Loughborough Students Futsal.

Some roles are highly visible; many are not. From preparation and performance support to analysis, medical care, operations, communications and the countless jobs undertaken on training and matchdays, every contribution matters.

These photographs capture moments that can easily go unnoticed but are fundamental to success. They tell the story of the people, relationships and collective effort that exist behind what we see on the pitch.

Because no team succeeds alone.

Great performances are built not only by those who cross the white line, but by the team behind them.

Becca Taylor is a sports & documentary photographer with a passion for capturing the emotion, energy and stories behind sport.
