Annual Bishop's Lecture

The University Chaplaincy host the third Bishop's Lecture welcoming Professor Lord Tarassenko, President of Reuben College, University of Oxford.

As part of the ‘Chaplaincy Lectures’, a joint initiative between the Bishop of Leicester and universities in Leicester and Loughborough, we are delighted to announce that the next lecture will take place at Loughborough University on Thursday 30 October 2025.

The lecture will be given by Professor Lord Tarassenko entitled 'Will we still need God when we reach Artificial General Intelligence?'

Doors open at 5.30pm, with refreshments available in the EHB Atrium. Following the lecture, there will be a time for Q&A with Professor Lord Tarassenko.

Professor Lord (Lionel) Tarassenko CBE FREng FMedSci is the first president of Reuben College. He is a world-leading expert in the application of signal processing and machine learning to healthcare, with a strong track record in translation to clinical medicine. He was appointed as a non-party-political peer in the House of Lords in May 2024.
