Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour to visit Loughborough University

England Rugby 2015 has announced today that Loughborough University will be a destination for the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour.

The Trophy Tour will visit the University on 13 August as part of a three day stay in Leicestershire.

The University is a Team Base for Rugby World Cup 2015 and will welcome Namibia, Tonga and Uruguay to campus during the Tournament.

Launching on 10 June - 100 days to go to the opening match – the Trophy Tour will visit over 300 events ranging from community rugby programmes to Host City festivals and iconic national landmarks, with hundreds of opportunities for fans to see the Webb Ellis Cup.

Ben Aherne, Sport Business Development Manager at Loughborough University said:

“Naturally we are delighted to have been selected to be a destination for the Trophy Tour.  As a Team Base for Rugby World Cup 2015 the University is once again involved in a global sporting event taking place in the UK.  We look forward to welcoming the Trophy Tour to our campus in August.”

England Rugby 2015 have also announced the locations of the Official Fanzones as well as the route for the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour in the UK & Ireland.

“With less than six months to go we are delighted to announce the locations of the Official Fanzones, alongside details of the 100 day Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour across the UK and Ireland.

“The countdown to Rugby World Cup 2015 is on and fans can now really begin to plan their Tournament experience, be it through watching the matches, through Fanzones, the Festival of Rugby and the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour.”
