GAME confirmed as title sponsor for graduate led Esports championship

Loughborough graduates behind the UK’s inter-university Esports championship have secured sponsorship from gaming giant, GAME.

The National University Esports Live is the culmination of a year-long tournament played throughout the academic year, masterminded by The NUEL, founded by Computer Science graduates Josh Williams and Tom Davies.

With the competitive video gaming (Esports) industry growing worldwide, NUEL has helped to develop Esports in the UK by focusing on the University scene.

With the support of The Studio, Josh and Tom started with a handful of teams in 2010, and quickly galvanized the UK’s university online gaming community, increasing the number of participating clubs.

In two years, NUEL has grown from just 16 teams playing in the league to over 350. NUEL has since attracted the attention of global brand Riot Games, and UK retailer, GAME.

Josh comments: “Bringing GAME on board as our first ever title sponsor is a special moment in the NUEL’s history. We’ve been searching for a sponsor that cares about UK Esports, who will benefit the university community and, is a brand the community would be proud to be partnered with.

“With GAME’s commitment to UK Esports and being a UK based games retailer, there is massive amount of opportunity for supporting the NUEL community in the long term.”
