- Application deadline: Sunday 9 November (23:59), although you are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
We anticipate that applicants will receive the outcome of their application by Friday 28 November.
We are recruiting for multiple academic roles across three distinct focus areas. It is recommended that you apply for one role within one focus area, which best aligns with your preferred area. If you feel your expertise spans multiple areas or roles, please mention this in your application.

Application process and candidate guidance
Senior Lecturers and Lecturers
To help you to complete a quality application, please read the following candidate guidance carefully as your application will be assessed based on these criteria.
The application process will include:
- A small number of questions as part of your application form.
- A copy of your CV (up to 10 pages). Please ensure you include details of research bidding activity.
Within your application form, you will be asked to detail:
- The strategic focus area that you would like to be considered for.
- Up to three significant research outputs since 2020 that best showcase the quality of your research.
- How you will contribute to your chosen strategic focus area, and sub-focus discipline. Specifically, please include the following detail:
- Alignment: How your research, skills, and experience connect to the theme and sub-theme.
- Contribution: The unique perspectives, expertise, or methods you will bring, and how these will advance the focus area and sub-focus discipline.
- Collaboration: How you plan to work with colleagues across Loughborough (please name individuals, groups, or departments if possible), and how these collaborations will strengthen both your own work and the collective success of the focus area.
- Integration: How your contribution and collaborations will help ensure impact at both the individual and team level.
- How you have contributed, and how will you continue to contribute, to education and student experience, including supporting the success of all students. Specifically, we recommend that you consider:
- Past Contributions: Examples of how you have enhanced teaching, learning, or the wider student experience (e.g. innovative teaching methods, curriculum development, student support, mentoring, inclusive practice).
- Future Contributions: How you plan to build on this work at Loughborough to support student success and a high-quality educational experience.
- Inclusivity and Support: How you will ensure that all students, from diverse backgrounds and with different needs, are supported to achieve their potential.
- Broader Impact: How your approach will contribute to Loughborough’s reputation for excellence in education and enriches the overall student experience.

Assessment process and interview
If your application is successful, the next stage/s of the assessment process may involve:
- A first-stage telephone or video interview
- A formal panel interview (all shortlisted candidates will attend this stage)

Research vision and aspirations for Loughborough
Describe your long-term research vision and how it aligns with Loughborough University’s research priorities. What unique contributions do you hope to make to your chosen research thematic area at Loughborough?
Leadership and role model experience
Highlight your significant leadership experience in research and academia. Where relevant, include examples of project management, leading collaborations, managing staff, and/or managing budgets.
ECR mentorship
Discuss your experience mentoring Early Career Researchers (ECRs), or company staff, at equivalent or similar levels. Provide examples of how you have supported and guided these individuals.
International networking
Provide examples of how you have built and maintained strong international research collaborations and networks. Where relevant, include any experience of presenting research work at international conferences and working in an internationally recognised academic research environment, and collaborating with other businesses.
Contribution to world-changing research impact
Illustrate how your research has contributed, or has the potential to contribute to, world-changing, impactful discoveries. Highlight any collaborative efforts with other businesses that have enhanced the impact of your research.
Teaching and curriculum development
Describe your experience of teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Include any contributions you have made to curriculum development.
