Peer-to-Peer Learning Programme

Our Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Learning programme supports the strengthening of commercialisation capability across the Midlands.

Across universities, commercialisation teams face many shared challenges – balancing risk, resource constraints, academic engagement, investor expectations, and institutional priorities.

While these challenges are addressed in different contexts, opportunities to explore them collectively and in depth are often limited.

That’s why Forging Ahead’s P2P learning is designed to create the structured, trusted spaces where teams from different institutions can learn directly from one another’s experience.

Aims of Peer-to-Peer Learning programme

To build commercialisation capability in the Midlands

To build internal networks that encourage collaboration

To mobilise existing expertise within the ecosystem

Rather than delivering training or prescribing “best practice”, Forging Ahead’s P2P approach is shaped through ongoing engagement with our partner universities, allowing the programme to adapt as needs evolve, rather than following a fixed curriculum. This ensures relevance for institutions at different stages of commercialisation maturity with different strategic priorities.

Peer-to-Peer learning strengthens capability by connecting and amplifying what already exists; complements other programmes and interventions; and contributes to the longer-term resilience of the regional commercialisation ecosystem by embedding shared learning and relationships across institutions.

In this way, P2P learning under Forging Ahead is not a standalone activity but an empowering set-up: one that supports a more connected commercialisation community across the Midlands.
