Spencer gained his first degree in Sports Studies and History and graduated from West London Institute of Higher Education in 1988. He then worked as a fitness instructor before coming to Loughborough University, where he completed his master's degree in Sports Science, in 1991. Spencer then worked as an Exercise Physiology Technician in the Loughborough University laboratories for 13 years. Having spent the following five years selling performance testing equipment in the commercial sector and five years in Higher Education at Loughborough College, he is thrilled to have re-joined the School as a Technical Tutor in Physiology.
A former international athlete, Spencer still runs ‘most’ days of the week and coaches young athletes at Charnwood AC.
