Richard joined Loughborough in January 2018 as Director of Football having spent 3 years as Head of Talent Identification at the Football Assocation, supporting National Coaches with the identification and selection of players from Under 15s to Seniors and the development of a Talent Identification Education Programme (5 Levels). Prior to the FA, Richard was Head of Academy at Queens Park Rangers spending 2 years taking them from a Centre of Excellence to a Category 2 Academy and the previous 8 years as Head of Recruitment at Tottenham Hotspur where he was responsible for identifying and recruiting numerous players who subsequently went on to make first team debuts.
Richard continues to deliver Talent ID Workshops and education session at professional clubs and for various National Associations and is often asked to speak on the subject at conferences. He also continues to support the FA’s Talent ID programme co running the Level 4 Heads of Recruitment Course (Talent Leadership, Management, Strategy in Football) and delivering on the Level 2, Talent ID in Football Course.
In 2019, Richard was appointed to the FA Council to speak on higher education, representing British Universities Colleges Sport (BUCS).
Football Qualifications: UEFA ‘A’ Licence and Advanced Youth Award, FA Level 5 Talent ID, Academy Managers Licence. Member of the Association of Sporting Directors.
