Our BSc and MMath Mathematics courses and our Mathematics with Statistics course are accredited by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications. Our Mathematics and Accounting and Financial Management course is accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Association of International Accountants. We're highly ranked in league tables too: Top 10 in the UK for Overall Satisfaction in Mathematics & Statistics in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2019. Excellent facilities and support

The Department of Mathematical Sciences is based in the newly refurbished Schofield Building, boasting dedicated resources for mathematics student and modern lecture theatres, working areas and seminar rooms. As a student you will have 24/7 access to computer labs in the Schofield Building and will also benefit from the co-location with the Mathematics Learning Support Centre. The Centre provides a wide variety of printed and online resources and members of academic staff are available each day to provide one-to-one help - supporting you with the challenge of University-level mathematics.

Placement opportunities

All our courses carry the option of an employability-boosting year-long professional placement - a great way to gain on-the-job experience in a real role with real responsibilities. A year spent applying your learning in an industrial, commercial or research context gives you invaluable work experience to strengthen your CV and can even introduce you to your future employer. We have helped our students to find placements with incredible companies including Accenture, Siemens, Disney, Rolls-Royce, L'Oreal, Lloyds Banking Group, Ernst & Young, Hitachi and Goldman Sachs.
