Fees and financial support

Tuition fees
Loughborough University will charge the following annual fees for full-time UK/EU entrants in 2012/13:
| Course type | Fee |
|---|---|
| All undergraduate degree courses | £9,000 |
| Science and Engineering Foundation Studies | £9,000 |
| Sandwich placement or year abroad | £800 |
The Government will set an inflation-based fee increase for each subsequent year of study, so the fee will rise slightly for 2013 entry.
Student loan for living costs
To help with living costs, eligible students permanently resident in the UK will also be able to take out a student loan. The amount depends on where you live and where you are studying.
For 2012/13, the maximum annual loan for eligible English students living away from home, but not studying in London, will be £5,500, and this is likely to rise slightly for 2013.
Students from England should apply for a loan through Student Finance England; students from Wales via their Local Authority; students from Scotland through the Students Award Agency for Scotland (SAAS); and students from Northern Ireland through the appropriate Education and Library Board.
There may be further financial assistance towards living costs for some students, including disabled students and students with dependants.
For further information contact Student Finance England.
Government maintenance grant
In addition to the student loan, students from low income families may be eligible for a maintenance grant from the Government. For 2012 entry, grants for English students of up to £3,250 will be means-tested, with students with a household income of up to £25,000 receiving the full award.
A sliding scale will apply to incomes between that figure and £42,600. The thresholds are likely to be similar for 2013 entry.
Detailed information on how to apply for this financial assistance can be obtained from Student Finance England. The Student Awards Agency for Scotland, the Welsh Assembly Government and the Department of Education for Northern Ireland produce detailed guides on student financial support.
Access to Learning Fund
The University has an Access to Learning Fund which exists to provide assistance for UK students who experience severe hardship.
Further information is available from the Student Advice and Support Service.
