Art and Design (Studio Practice) MA
1 year full-time, 2 years part-time
The programme provides an opportunity for students who wish to develop the full potential of a practice based project proposal either as research or professional preparation, and is designed to enable access to a range of subject disciplines, workshops and external links, as appropriate to an individual project.
We offer specialist facilities in Textiles, 3D Design, Fine Art and Visual Communication, and welcome applications that cross the boundaries of traditional specialisms. The programme encourages innovation in addition to the refinement of individual skills and practice. It is cumulative in structure, progressing through six compulsory modules.

Semester 2
- Practice, Research and Entrepreneurial Skills
- Exploring Materials, Processes and Techniques
Summer
- Final Project and Presentation: Students have the option of studying the final module at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore.
Assessment
Assessment is continuous and based on an appraisal of practice, written material, related research, and professional and entrepreneurial skills in relation to the final project outcome(s). All students submit a Final Project Report.
Entry Qualification*
Upper second class honours degree normally required in an art and design discipline or closely related subject. Exceptional circumstances will also be considered (for instance, an honours degree in an aligned subject or appropriate additional work experience).
Application
All candidates should submit an application form, an electronic PDF portfolio of recent work, and a 1000 word project proposal that will form the basis for study on this Masters programme.
