In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF), published in May 2022, the University recorded one of the largest increases in the sector in the proportion of research classed as ‘world-leading’ - and our results underline the tangible impact our research is having on the world.

This outstanding result is testament to the many academics, technicians and professional services staff and the broad range of external partners with whom we work to deliver far-reaching impact.
