Current home students
Using academic language appropriately and correctly can make a tremendous difference to the quality of your work, but it doesn’t always come naturally.
The English Language Support Service offers a range of support in academic and general English as well as study skills specifically aimed at and designed for home native English speaking students. We are here to help you develop the English language and study skills that you will need to succeed on your academic programme and in your future career.
About in-sessional support
Who are the classes for?
Are you a native speaker of English?
Are you finding it hard to make the transition between ordinary English and the academic language that is expected by your tutors?
Do you need help with your writing, grammar or punctuation?
If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, we may be able to help!
The English Language Support Service runs a range of workshops and courses during semester one and two to help you with your academic English, study skills and adjustment to UK academic culture and expectations.
How can I enrol?
You can register for courses via the Library’s ‘Get the Know How: Skills to Succeed’ Learn module LBA001
Click on ‘Grammar and Punctuation’ or ‘Coherent Writing’ for information on current sessions.
If you feel you need further advice on which workshops to attend, it may be possible to book an appointment to see one of our tutors by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
