How to apply for your room
All applications for Halls accommodation are conducted online – no paperwork to complete!
You will need your UCAS application number (Undergraduates) or University application number (Art Foundation Diploma and Postgraduates) to be able to apply for accommodation. You will also need an email address - we advise that you do not use your current school/college/University email addresses as these may become inactive once you have left. Please also ensure you add email@example.com to your safe contacts, particularly if you are using an @hotmail or @live email address so that we are not automatically placed into your junk/spam folder where important emails may be missed.
Once you have your academic offer and you have made Loughborough your firm choice you will be able to start to apply for your accommodation.
For Undergraduate students, we have two methods of application. As a Firm Choice student, once your academic place has been confirmed, you will have the opportunity to Reserve a Room online. As an Insurance or Clearing Undergraduate student or mature student aged over 30 you can apply by the Room Preference method.
As a Postgraduate student, you can apply by the Room Preference method only.
Reserving a room online
If you reserve a room online, you can choose where you want to live from a selection of available room types in a specific Hall of Residence. You will be required to accept the Terms & Conditions of occupancy and accept the online contract. Once you have been issued with a Loughborough University registration number*, you will then use this to pay the room bond to secure the contract - the room bond should be paid as soon as you receive your registration number.
We open the Room Reservation process on a staggered basis in order to reduce the impact on the website. You will not be able to apply until the date and time specified on your information email, which will depend on your course type. This will not put applicants at a disadvantage as a proportional number of rooms in each hall will have been allocated for each course type.
The room reservation process is available to the following student types:
Firm Choice Undergraduate; Erasmus Full Year; Erasmus Semester 1; Art Foundation.
Room Preferencing online
If you submit three preferences online using our Room Preference method, we will make you an offer subject to availability once your academic place is confirmed. The system will take into account both your preference options and date of application. You will need to accept the offer and pay the room bond deposit to ensure that you can collect your keys on arrival. If you have not already been issued with your University student registration number*, room bond deposits should be paid online once you have received your registration email from the Student Records office.
The Room Preference method is available until the start of term to the following student types:
All Undergraduates; Erasmus Full Year; Erasmus Semester 1; Erasmus Semester 2; Art Foundation; Postgraduate students.
Before you arrive
Prior to your arrival, as part of your contractual agreement you will be required to complete an online Living in Halls Induction - we will email you when this is available. At the end of the Induction you should also ensure you book an arrival slot online to confirm your intended date and time of arrival.
If you will be arriving late, please let both the Student Accommodation Centre and your Hall Warden know. You will still be liable for the accommodation charges from the start of the contract. Unless you have agreed a late arrival date with us in advance, we will re-allocate your room from the first Monday of term (1st year UK/EU students) or on the first Wednesday of term (1st year International students).
*You will be issued with a Loughborough University registration number (B******) to complete the online registration process (approximately 6 weeks before the start of term). This number will show on your ID card which you will be issued on arrival, and will be yours throughout your time at Loughborough. This number should be used in all correspondence with the University.
