How to apply for your room

All applications for Halls accommodation are conducted online – no paper work to complete!

You will need your UCAS application number (Undergraduates) or University application number (Postgraduates) to be able to apply for accommodation.  You will also need an email address - we advise that you do not use your current school/college/University email addresses as these may become inactive once you have left.  Please also ensure you add sac@lboro.ac.uk to your safe contacts, particularly if you are using an @hotmail or @live email address so that we are not automatically placed into your junk/spam folder where important emails may be missed.

Once you have your academic offer and you have made Loughborough your firm choice you will be able to apply for your accommodation.  We have two methods of application; you can either Reserve a Room by choosing where you want to live from a selection of available room types in a variety of locations, or you can Room Preference by logging three different accommodation preferences which we can use as a guide to allocate you a room subject to availability. Please note that Postgraduate students can apply by the Room Preference method only.

Reserving a room online

If you reserve a room online, this will be held until your academic place in confirmed.  You will be issued with a Loughborough University ID number* which you will then use to pay the room bond to secure the offer - the room bond should be paid within 8 days of the issue of your ID number.  If your entry to Loughborough is not successful the offer will be automatically cancelled.

The room reservation process is available until the end of July to the following student types:
Undergraduate; Erasmus Full Year; Erasmus Semester 1; Art Foundation;

Room Preferencing online

If you submit three preferences online, we will make an offer subject to availability once your academic place is confirmed.  You will need to accept the offer within 8 days be issued with a Loughborough University ID number* and pay the deposit to secure the room, otherwise it may be withdrawn and allocated to another student.

The room preferencing process is available until the start of term to the following student types:
Undergraduate; Erasmus Full Year; Erasmus Semester 1; Erasmus Semester 2; Art Foundation; Postgraduate students; Performance Athletes.

Undergraduate students (hyperlink) can apply online from May/June for October entry.

Students who will be here for one semester (hyperlink) only will be able to apply from May (October entry) or December (February entry).

Postgraduate students (hyperlink)  who will enrol in October can apply online from April.  Postgraduates who are arriving in December, April or July should contact us (hyperlink) for details of availability.

Please read your contract carefully before you accept as it contains information and guidance about the terms and conditions (to hyperlink) that will apply to your accommodation.

Before you arrive

Prior to your arrival, as part of your contractual agreement you will be required to complete an online Living in Halls Induction - we will email you when this is available. At the end of the Induction you will also have the opportunity to book an arrival slot. If you will be arriving late, please let both the Student Accommodation Centre and your Hall Warden know. You should also ensure you book an arrival slot online to confirm your intended date of arrival. Unless you have agreed a late arrival date with us in advance, we will re-allocate your room from the first Monday of term (1st year UK/EU students) or on the first Wednesday of term (1st year International students). If you agree a late arrival date with us and do not arrive on that date, we may also reserve the right to re-allocate your room. If you arrive late you will be liable for the accommodation charges from the start of the contract.

*You will be issued with a Loughborough University ID number (B******). This number will show on your ID card which you will be issued when you register on arrival, and will be yours throughout your time at Loughborough. This number should be used in all correspondence with the University.
