Alison Moore

A leading author will deliver Loughborough University’s 2014 Kathleen Banks Memorial Lecture.

Alison Moore will talk about her route into writing and what it is like to be an author in the 21st Century.

The lecture is open to all – staff, students, alumni and the general public.  It will take place on Wednesday 3 December, in the Sir Robert Martin Theatre, Martin Hall on the University campus.   There will be complementary drinks and an opportunity to meet Alison from 4.30pm.  Her talk will start at 5.00pm.   

Admission is free for staff, students and alumni.  Members of the public are welcome to attend and tickets are priced at £5.  Tickets can be purchased on the door or online here

Alison Moore was born in Manchester in 1971.  Her first novel, The Lighthouse, was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2012 and National Book Awards 2012 (New Writer of the Year).  It won the McKitterick Prize 2013.  Her short fiction has been published in Best British Short Stories anthologies, broadcast on BBC Radio 4 Extra and collected in The Pre-War House and Other Stories whose title story won a New Writer novella prize.

The Kathleen Banks Memorial Lecture is being hosted by the University’s School of the Arts, English and Drama.  It commemorates and celebrates the work of a much-loved colleague, teacher and friend from the School whose life was tragically cut short in an accident close to the University campus.
