Online guide helps readers discover new authors

Almost 2,500 adult fiction authors are now included in an online guide that helps signpost readers to new books and authors.

Whoelsewriteslike.com is an invaluable reference tool to support readers who have read everything by their favourite fiction authors and are looking for similar writers. The online database searches authors by genre, nationality and style, as well as identifying major prize winners and books that are suitable for young adult ‘crossover’ readers.

This useful web tool supplements the popular Who else writes like… a readers’ guide to fiction authors which is now in its seventh edition and has been updated by new editor Ian Baillie to include geographical settings, historical eras and other contexts favoured by different authors. The online version includes all authors from both the sixth and seventh editions.

Who else writes like… has been developed by LISU, part of Loughborough University’s Department of Information Science.

LISU Director Claire Creaser said: “We are really pleased to be able to supplement Who else writes like with an online edition. The world of adult fiction is constantly changing, with new authors being published and new genres emerging all the time. With the online edition, we can keep up-to-date with the changes, as well as including more authors and additional material which just can’t be fitted into the book.”

www.whoelsewriteslike.com is available on subscription to individuals, schools and libraries. For a free two-week trial please visit the website.
