Lecturer in Strategy
Dr Lan Gao earned her PhD in International Business and Strategy from the School of Business and Economics, Loughborough University. Lan also holds a BEng in Computer Science and Technology (East China Normal University) and a MSc in Finance and Management (Loughborough University).
Prior to taking on the Lecturer position, Lan worked as a Research Associate for Leverhulme Trust funded project ‘CEO compensation, sub-national institution and internationalization of Chinese listed firms’ and British Academy funded project ‘human mobility and knowledge transfer between China and the UK’.
Lan’s research interests lie primarily in the field of the internationalization of firms from emerging economies, with a particular focus on China. Research topics include motivations of foreign direct investment; internationalisation performance; human mobility and internationalisation; dynamic capability; and the role of institutions. Lan is also interested in the impact of rising emerging economy firms on the strategy of traditional MNEs.
