BEST UNIVERSITY FOR ACCOMMODATION

Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2015

An MBA student needs about £10,500 a year for accommodation and other living expenses, excluding tuition fees. Independent national surveys show that Loughborough’s accommodation provides excellent value for money in comparison with other universities.

Below you can find out about the different types of accommodation available for MBA students.

Halls of residence on Loughborough's outstanding green campus

The University is investing in an on-going refurbishment programme for campus-based residences, and have several self-catering halls available to MBA students. Offers of places in halls are issued when you firmly accept your offer of admission.

John Phillips Hall, built in 2008, has 298 en-suite rooms dedicated to postgraduate students. All of our postgraduate hall accommodation is self-catered on a 50-week let, and is within walking distance of the campus and close to local amenities such as shops and banks.

Whilst most hall accommodation is single occupancy, if you would like to bring your partner or family, we also have one and two bedroom fully–furnished flats in New Ashby Court. Partners are accepted in some double rooms in Harry French Hall.

All halls of residence are supported by resident hall Wardens (usually members of staff) and Sub-wardens (usually postgraduate students). They are there to ensure that the Residential Regulations are observed for the benefit of all inhabitants and to look after your welfare and to help you.

Our dedicated Senior Accommodation Consultant is Rachel Havens and she will be happy to deal with any of your queries regarding living full-time on campus. We can also help you find private accommodation, inspected by the University. For more information visit our Accommodation website

MBA students who receive full acceptance onto their course and apply for accommodation prior to 1 September, will be given priority in our halls of residence.

Off-campus accommodation in the heart of town

Some students prefer to live in private accommodation off-campus and there is a large variation of rents reflecting size, condition and style of accommodation. Whether you choose to live in a house or in halls, our Student Accommodation Centre is here to give you friendly guidance and advice and advertises accommodation for private landlords on Studentpad.

All accommodation is privately owned and has been inspected by the University to ensure it meets the required standard. All landlords are independently accredited by a scheme run in partnership with Charnwood Borough Council.

Accommodation, schools and childcare for your Family

Many of our MBA applicants choose to bring partners and even families with them for the duration of their studies. Whilst they may be a daunting prospect, especially if you are from overseas, we do everything we accommodate such arrangements to help make transition as smooth as possible.

You may want to watch our MBA video to hear how one of our recent MBA students brought her daughter with her and happily settled first at nursery then at a local school.
