About

Welcome to International Relations, Politics and History at Loughborough

Dr Phil Parvin

Students and Staff in International Relations, Politics and History form a vibrant community with a mix of undergraduates, MA and doctoral students. A staff of 27 academics provide in our own building a friendly but inspiring community of scholars and teachers.

We conduct research both individually and collectively working with a wide range of stake holders including NGOs, the EU and NATO. It is our students who are at the centre of our activities to provide a first class education for all. We teach a variety of degrees in History, International Relations and Politics. Students work with world class researchers in their specialist modules and dissertations. Assessment is an exciting mix of essays, presentations, policy memo writing and group work. Personal tutors provide individual support for every student and we have at the heart of our building a communal area for staff and students to mingle as well as a space for social occasions.

All of our students are eligible to spend time studying abroad with one of our partner institutions in for example France, Spain or Denmark or to take advantage of a one year placement in government or industry.  A visiting speaker programme and an excellent careers service are also part of how we prepare students for the world of work.

We hope very much that you will consider joining our community as part of the Loughborough family.
