Background

Laura graduated from Loughborough University in 2003 with a Masters of Physics degree and Diploma of Industrial Studies. She completed her PhD at Loughborough University, graduating in 2007. The focus of the project was the development of a novel, integrating training device for cricket. She completed a number of Post Doctoral research positions before taking up her lectureship in 2012. Throughout her postgraduate studies and academic career, her research focus has been on the development of advanced manufacturing processes which has focused on novel system integration; developing individual components and integrating them together with machine vision, computer control and instrumentation to develop superior systems.

Laura is a Senior Lecturer at Loughborough University and an academic member of the EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Intelligent Automation. She is the lead academic for the advanced manufacturing processes within the Centre. She leads the adaptive Welding and Cladding research work as well as fundamental research into the phenomenon of electro-adhesion for mobile robotic systems.
