About this event

Abstract:
This work presents a reduced complexity mechanical model that is used in combination with a calculated non-linear load distribution and continuously differentiable Stribeck curve which features six constants to capture the transient friction characteristics. Numerical continuation is then applied to the lumped parameter model to conduct a stability analysis. Six key parameters are considered: speed, friction scaling (wet & dry), total applied load, wiper spline stiffness, blade wrap and loading asymmetry. A series of one, two and three parameter continuation analyses are conducted with a particular focus on determining Hopf and Saddle node bifurcations.
