Giving to Loughborough
Ways of giving
You can donate and contribute towards the continuing success of Loughborough University in a number of ways. Every single penny of your donation will go to the cause you have requested and we do not take any administration costs from the money you donate.
You can support us online now by making a single gift or by setting up a regular direct debit. Setting up a direct debit enables you to support Loughborough University with a regular gift which can be paid monthly, quarterly or annually. Direct debits are vital in helping us plan a successful future, which is why regular gifts of any amount are greatly appreciated.
You can make a donation by telephone at any time using your credit or debit card by calling us on 01509 228497.
Setting up a direct debit enables you to support the Loughborough University with a regular gift which can be paid monthly, quarterly or annually. Direct debits enable us to support fantastic causes around the University such as Scholarships, sports teams, research, equipment and many other areas. This list is extensive and your gift plays a vital role in the continuing success of the University and its students.

You can support Loughborough through our annual Telethon by making a one-off gift or by setting up a regular direct debit. Each year, a team of 30 student callers make contact with our alumni by phone to provide campus updates and to discuss specific areas which alumni can support.
Our student callers are fully trained to work on behalf of the University and your details and gift are treated in confidence, complying with all University policies.
This year's Telethon has ended but we will be running it again in the next academic year.
If you receive a call and wish to check that it is genuinely coming from Loughborough before making your gift, please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone on 01509 228497.
Leaving a gift in your will
A legacy gift is often the most significant gift a person will ever make. Over the past century of Loughborough’s life, legacy gifts have played a crucial part in helping us become the unique, internationally-recognised university we are today.
If you would like to discuss the option of remembering Loughborough University in your Will please visit our legacy webpages or complete and return a Declaration of Intent form to let us know of your wishes and help us to thank you appropriately.
How to include a gift in your Will
We have produced some guidance and suggested wording (PDF) for your Will or Codicil to help you leave a legacy gift. This will help to ensure that your gift is tax efficient, as the University has Exempt Charity status.
Whenever you write or update your Will, we strongly recommend that you seek professional advice from a solicitor.
Adding a gift to an existing Will
If you have already made a Will, you can add a legacy to the University by simply adding a Codicil form (PDF) to an existing Will.
Other ways of giving
A corporate partnership with Loughborough University can bring invaluable benefits to your business; whether that’s exposure to our 17,000 students, increased profile to our 150,000 alumni or as a philanthropic vehicle which builds trust and loyalty with your internal and external stakeholders.
Our wealth of sporting and academic awards and outstanding accolades makes Loughborough one of the best Universities to align your brand to. There are opportunities to:
- Sponsor one of our renowned sports teams, who have high profile both across the University, the East Midlands and the wider Higher Education sector, as well as national media and social media coverage.
- Invest in the future of skilled graduates (Loughborough University is ranked 5th in the UK for graduate employability) by supporting one of our many projects, such as the development of our highly anticipated STEMLab, as well as a wide range of research and enterprise projects.
- Showcase your CSR credentials by investing in the lives of young people. Corporate scholarships will ensure that a young person from a disadvantaged background gets the opportunity to maximise their potential.
Each partnership is completely bespoke, recognising the strengths of each organisation. We value all the opportunities that a wider partnership can bring, from providing Gift-in-Kind support, to helping you promote employee development and loyalty through exciting team building activities.
Trusts and Foundations
Trusts and Foundations support is invaluable for developing projects that have real impact for people or the world around us. This includes education, health and wellbeing, environmental factors, safety of human life, and the arts.
Current research includes:
- Studies into exercise and its impact on dementia
- Cancer recovery rates in children utilising exercise as medicine
Current projects include:
- Wearable Air Pollution monitoring systems
- Early detection equipment for landslides
- Breathing controlled communication systems
- Landmine detection and clearance
These are just a very small selection of projects within the University that will make a real difference and ultimately, in many cases, save lives.
We can also provide support for individuals or departments within the University wishing to develop their own proposals or applications.
Stocks and shares donations
