Teaching at Loughborough University has consistently been rated excellent in independent assessments, placing the University towards the top of the teaching quality tables.

In order to sustain this exceptional quality the University has developed strong academic, guidance and welfare systems to support students throughout their education.  The Careers Centre has been voted as one of the top ten among UK Higher Education Institutions. 

The University has established a Teaching Centre in order to support the professional development needs of academic staff and promote effective practice in learning, teaching and assessment.

In addition, on campus there are two national Centres for Excellence in Teaching and Learning; one in industry and employer linked engineering (engCETL), and the other in mathematics and statistics support (sigma).  Both centres are internationally known for their innovative work.

Loughborough has secured a top five ranking in the National Student Survey for four years running and in other national league tables the University is consistently ranked in the top 15, placing it firmly amongst the country’s educational elite.

Close links with industry, business, the public sector and the professions allow students at Loughborough to benefit from profitable work placements, with 65% of the University’s degrees offering this opportunity. 

Loughborough graduates leave university equipped with the knowledge and employability skills that are in great demand.  For this reason Loughborough is one of the top 20 universities in the ratings of large graduate employers.  In 2007 79% of Loughborough graduates in employment were working in graduate level occupations, earning £2,000 more in their first jobs than the UK graduate average.
