5G Research Centre (5GRC)

About

Antenna Array

Why we have a centre

A main goal of the 5G Research Centre is to increase engagement between industry and Loughborough University.

Inward interest from industry allows our researchers to focus on work that is relevant to the future of Mobile communications.  By seeking support from the commercial sector we are able to maximize current and future opportunities for our post graduate engineers and develop networking across the sector.

The 5G Research Centre grew out of the Centre for Mobile Communications Reserach that was established in 1998. Its labs and facilities are an important part of the Wolfson School of Engineering (Electronics). The school is typically within the top ten in the UK tables of merit and has been shown to be both internationally and nationally leading in areas related to communications engineering.

The centre is comprised of a team of enthusiastic research active academics supported by research fellows and research assistants backed up by a healthy population of PhD, Masters  and Undergraduate students. As well as this there are a group of people from other institutions on sabbaticals, fellowships and student placements.

The centre has a particular interest in Masters degrees in Mobile Communications.

We currently have one of the best equipped set of test and measurement facilities related to mobile communications in the UK and continue to maximize the use of our resources. 5GRC has found this to be an effective way to strengthen pathways to impact for our work.
