Loughborough students triumph at 2023 Net Zero Energy ASHRAE Design competition

This remarkable achievement underscores the university's commitment to excellence and innovation in building services engineering, sustainable practices, and cutting-edge research. Their winning design includes high-performance fabric, solar PV, free cooling and heating systems, heat recovery from high-performance chillers, energy electrification, green roofs with recycled water, thermal mass, and energy-efficient lighting. Each team member receive a well-deserved $1,000 award, in addition to the £250 they earned during the ASHRAE UK chapter launch, and the opportunity to attend the 2024 ASHRAE Winter Conference in Chicago, USA, with all expenses covered. Mentored by Professor Eftekhari who shared, “This victory marks the third time Loughborough University students have claimed the top spot in the ASHRAE Net Zero Energy Design competition. It underscores our commitment to excellence and innovation in building services engineering, sustainable practices, and cutting-edge research.”
