Equity and diversity

Loughborough University recognises that people are our success, and our reputation is dependent on the commitment and excellence of our staff.

We are committed to achieving equity for all those who learn and work here, and wish to develop a demonstrably fair and supportive environment, which provides equality of opportunity and freedom from unlawful discrimination on the grounds of race, colour, nationality, ethnic origin, sex, gender identity, marital or civil partnership status, disability, sexual orientation, religion or belief, age, socio-economic background, or spent criminal convictions.

Staff Networks

Our Staff Networks are established and run by staff from all over the University, to help empower colleagues, build their confidence and sense of community, and provide them with a voice and influence across the University. We encourage employees to seek support through our Staff Networks. The networks currently include:

  • Age Appreciation Group
  • REACH Staff Network - A forum to positively raise the profile of black and ethnic minority people and cultures on campus
  • The Disability and Inclusion Group - For those who have, or who are affected by physical or invisible disabilities.
  • Part-time Staff Group
  • LGBT+ Staff Network
  • Working Parents and Carers Network
  • Maia - Loughborough's Women's Network
  • International Staff Group
  • Religion, Spirituality and Belief Staff Network
  • Armed Forces Network Group
  • Early Careers Staff Network - Promoting ongoing professional development and support for staff at the start of their careers

The University through its membership of the Athena SWAN awards is actively working towards gender equality and under-representation. Further information and contact details for individual groups can be found on the Staff Networks pages.
