Systems-NET

Systems-NET provides a numberof opportunities for industry and researchers to participate

‘Crossing the bridge’ - Immersive Secondments:

Peer to peer working is crucial to successful interdisciplinary working. We have a portfolio of secondments for UK academics to spend time in a complementary laboratory or industry in order to develop cross-disciplinary collaborations. The time is of variable length depending upon circumstances. Secondments are aimed to young researchers and new members of university staff although other candidates could also be considered. This scheme provides financial support to spend time in a complementary laboratory or industry developing cross-disciplinary collaborations and to allow systems engineering techniques and skills to be transferred across disciplines. The number of such awards is limited and based on a competitive/merit basis. Each secondee will be required to produce a short report.

Visiting Scholar Scheme:

This is a scheme set up to provide financial support to encourage top-quality international interdisciplinary collaborations between academic members of Systems-NET and other institutions (national/international). Partial financial support is available for visits to a UK University or an international institution where there is potential to establish new collaborations and transfer new knowledge. The international visiting scholar is expected to participate in the annual grand challenge workshop.

Commissioned Case Study Reports:

The community lacks good case studies that illustrate the value of systems engineering. Whilst there are a number of examples where systems engineering could have solved big problems, the number of good examples is sadly lacking. A number of flagship case study examples where systems engineering has delivered a tangible benefit are available in this site. We would like you to participate with your own case studies so they can be disseminated to the wider community.
