David has been "Star Professor" in Healthcare Engineering in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Loughborough University since 2003. He is Director of the university Research School of Health and Life Sciences and leads the national £5.3m EPRSC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Regenerative Medicine. Between 1999 and 2003 David was Technical Director of Bespak, a major supplier of drug delivery devices to the pharmaceutical industry. David was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2002 and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
