NOTICE OF MEETING

The 313th (Special) Meeting of the University Council will be held on Tuesday 21 December 2004 immediately following the close of the 311th Meeting in the Council Chamber, Administration Building 2.

The meeting will be followed by a buffet luncheon in the Council Chamber Ante-Room.

5.                 Honorary Degrees

COUN04-P121 (to be tabled)

Pursuant to Statute XVIII, on the recommendation of Senate and with the advice of the Honorary Degrees Committee, to approve the issuing of invitations to persons to receive Honorary Degrees at Graduation Ceremonies in 2005.

6.                 Appointment of next Dean of Social Sciences and Humanities

On the recommendation of Senate, to appoint the Joint Committee to recommend the next Dean of Social Sciences and Humanities.

7.                 Deputy Vice-Chancellor Appointment

7.1              To note that, on the recommendation of Senate, the Chair has taken action to approve that the membership of the Appointment Committee for the Deputy Vice-Chancellor be the same as the Arrangements Committee for the post of Vice-Chancellor.

7.2              To receive a recommendation from the Appointment Committee regarding the appointment of the next Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

8.                 Vice-Chancellor Appointment

To approve an Appointments Committee to conduct the short-listing and final interviews for the next Vice-Chancellor.

iii)     Procedure for the Award of Personal Titles (Annex C)

iv)     Criteria for Recruitment of, or Redesignation to, Research Fellows (Annex D)

To ratify the action of the Chair of Council, on the recommendation of the Chair of Senate, with the advice of the Chair of Human Resources Committee, in approving the award of the following personal titles:
