Racket Sports
Dr Mark King leads the racket sports research in sports biomechanics at Loughborough. Mark has a strong interest in racket sports having played badminton to an elite level (formally ranked in the top ten in the UK for men's doubles and current Leicestershire county captain). The research in racket sports covers both tennis and badminton, with the early work in tennis linked to tennis elbow injuries and the one handed backhand stroke. More recent work in both tennis and badminton has investigated the factors that influence maximum speed and performance variability in the tennis serve and the badminton smash.
