Lightning ease past Rhinos to stay top

Loughborough Lightning made it two wins from two in the Netball Super League, claiming a convincing 70–41 victory away to NIC Leeds Rhinos to remain top of the early league table.

It was a closely contested opening quarter, with both sides trading goals throughout. Rhinos’ Paige Reed helped ensure there was nothing to separate the teams at the first break, with the scores level at 17–17.

Lightning took control in the second quarter with a dominant spell that proved decisive. Samantha Wallace-Joseph was clinical from range, sinking five AMEX Super Shots as Lightning outscored the hosts 20–7 to open up a commanding half-time lead.

From there, Lightning continued to build momentum in the second half. Wallace-Joseph remained a consistent presence in the shooting circle, while strong defensive pressure and quick transitions through court allowed the visitors to steadily extend their advantage.

In the midcourt, captain Nat Panagarry delivered an impressive performance on her 200th Lightning appearance. The centre recorded six gains across the match, helping Lightning repeatedly turn defence into attack.

The win keeps Lightning’s strong start to the season going as they continue to build momentum ahead of their widely anticipated home fixture against London Pulse on Saturday 14th March.
