Vic Burgess’ roster features the return of two familiar faces as key new signings alongside returners who finished brave runners up in NSL 2025.
New Arrivals
Jess Shaw will make her long-awaited return to Lightning colours for the 2026 season. The dynamic mid-courter, who currently represents the Vitality Roses on the international stage, first wore the African Violet back in 2019 and now re-joins the side to bring flair, speed and creativity through the centre court.
Also re-joining the squad is Celena Appleby-Prince, who will bolster Lightning’s defensive unit. A product of the club’s NXT Gen pathway, Appleby-Prince gained valuable top-flight experience last season after a mid-year move to Cardiff Dragons saw her make her Netball Super League debut. Her return marks a full-circle moment as she once again pulls on the Lightning dress.
They will step into the line-up following the departure of Bella Baylis, and the retirement of Jodie Gibson at the end of the 2025 season.
Returners
The remainder of Lightning’s 2025 line-up have also recommitted to the club, with every player signing on for another season. Their return ensures vital continuity across the squad and a strong foundation of experience as the side looks ahead to the 2026 campaign.
