Novel noise barrier technology

Commercialisation

The novel noise barrier system has been successfully developed in a prototype form and evaluated in laboratory testing demonstrating proof of concept.  The work to date is protected by international patent application: “Attenuators arrangements of attenuators, acoustic barriers and methods for constructing acoustic barriers” PCT/EP2010/051370 (Feb 2010). » view patent application

Ongoing work includes field trials, market research and planning commercial exploitation of the technology. A successful outcome will lead to sound attenuation systems with wide applications throughout industry which offer major advantages over conventional systems.

The technical development of the system will continue to be improved. Meanwhile, the main emphasis in the next stage of development is to develop a system that can be commercialised and accepted by the target market.

Work has recently commenced on constructing a full scale prototype and we have acquired the use a test site location in collaboration with the Open University and the transport research laboratory, in which the full scale prototype will be tested.
